About Harris Families, Broomfield / Chelmsford to New Zealand
My Harris family came from Broomfield, Essex, England.
They left for New Zealand in 1839 arriving Petone, Wellington, New Zealand in
1840.
Abraham Harris and his wife Sophia were both born in 1810.
Abraham in Broomfield Son of Edward Harris & Ann Turner
Sophia Harris - It was once thought she was from Terling in Essex. It is now believed
she is from Battle in Sussex.
It is beleived that Abraham & Sophia were cousins, see my tree to see the believed
link.
Both Abraham & Sophia Died in New Zealand and rest now in one of New Zealands
historic Church's "Christ-Church" in Taita, Wellington, NZ.. Click on the link
below..
On my mothers side, Reverend Charles Baker came to NZ in 1828 as a Missionary to the
far north area working with Marsden and co.. Charles was at the signing of the
Treaty.. His family are now scattered all over NZ.. Click on the links below....

This is my attempt to trace the family which I started researching about 1978.
This is of course an on-going process, if you have information you would like
added please contact me via e~mail. If you see information that is wrong or
missing or want to add up-dates PLEASE do contact me.
